Due to the lack of good public transportation and to the media, that makes us believe that we will only be independent the day we have one, a car is not only an object of desire. It is, most of times, an unavoidable necessity. Lots of people consider it as a symbol of status and personal achievement. Despite all the costs: insurance, taxes, checkup, fuel, parking space, etc. (There is an endless list of bills to be paid.) The family car has also multiplied: one (or two) for dad, another for mom, others for the teens. There are some people trying to kill themselves – in front of a car maybe? – whenever they see how much they spend on their automotive dream.
